Jacob Gibson’s journey into emergency services began at the age of sixteen as an Emergency Medical Technician, immersing himself in what he calls the, “emergency lifestyle”. While he initially envisioned a lifelong career as a professional firefighter and EMT, family tradition led him to follow in his mother’s footsteps into law enforcement.

In 2008, Jacob expanded his skills by entering nursing school. Starting as a diploma RN, he later earned a bachelor’s with honors from Urbana University. As a board-certified emergency nurse, he gained invaluable experience working in emergency departments and providing medical care at large-scale events nationwide.

Jacob’s dual roles highlighted the overlap between emergency medicine and policing. He took an interest in patients who cycle between these systems. This realization propelled him into forensic nursing, where he focuses on working with victims of violence and the study of violence and how it impacts the three clients of forensic nursing: society, community, and individuals.  A graduate of Xavier University with a Master’s in Nursing and Criminal Justice, he now operates as an expert when events converge in emergency care.
