Travis Howe is an emergency services leader and educator from Upstate New York. Currently serving as Chief of EMS for the Town of Lake George EMS Department, he has previously held county, regional, and state-level leadership roles and is a former volunteer fire chief. He has chaired several committees within EMS professional organizations and served for several years as President of a first responder/healthcare credit union. Travis' 28 years of experience have provided him with the opportunity to share his knowledge and firsthand experiences with EMS and fire service professionals through speaking engagements and consulting opportunities across the country.
As EMS educators, it is easy to focus much of our time on the cognitive and psychomotor domains of learning. However, it is our affective lessons that help create emotionally intelligent, professional, and humble leaders who work effectively with others. This is especially important during a time of significant change and ongoing challenges within our field.
Join Travis Howe as he outlines five successful and impactful affective lessons that you can incorporate into your next course. Participants will gain practical strategies to help develop not only skilled providers, but also compassionate, self-aware, and effective leaders within EMS.
Attendees will leave with a better understanding of the affective domain and its importance in EMS education. Participants will learn how to effectively implement affective lessons in their classroom and discover ways to enhance and expand traditional clinical experiences to create more meaningful learning opportunities for their students.
