Captain/Paramedic
Phoenix Fire Department
Phoenix, AZ
Captain Creston Ludlow is a Captain/Paramedic with the Phoenix Fire Department, where he serves on the Technical Rescue Team, Hazardous Materials Team, and Peer Support Team. He also serves as a Rescue and Logistics Specialist with Arizona Task Force 1 (AZ-TF1). A nationally recognized instructor, Captain Ludlow has presented hands-on training programs and lectures at leading conferences, including FDIC, Firehouse Expo, MAFFC, and F.I.E.R.O. Since 2015, he has led cancer prevention and exposure reduction initiatives within the Phoenix Fire Department, helping advance firefighter health and safety throughout the region and beyond.
This presentation offers a thorough examination of best practices and current research focused on developing effective, practical, and repeatable strategies for fireground decontamination and exposure reduction. Participants will gain the tools and confidence to communicate and implement these strategies seamlessly from the beginning of an incident through its conclusion.
Rooted in the growing body of research on firefighter cancer prevention, this session addresses a critical gap: translating knowledge into actionable, real-world practices. That’s where The Decon Dominoes comes in—a clear, accessible framework designed to make complex information simple, memorable, and operational.
Think of it as the “coloring book version for the kitchen table”—straightforward, relatable, and built for real-life application. While grounded in data and research, this session also recognizes the diverse resources and challenges faced by departments and provides adaptable solutions for a wide range of operational environments.
