Modern fire behavior has changed, and ventilation mistakes can now create faster fire growth, unpredictable flow paths, and increased risk to both firefighters and occupants. This session breaks down Vent-Enter-Search (VES) and tactical ventilation as coordinated, intentional fireground actions—not standalone tasks.
Participants will examine when and how to apply water suppression quickly, conduct VES safely, and understand how ventilation timing impacts interior conditions. The class will also explore how water application tactics and smoke ventilation strategies must change between residential, commercial, and high-rise buildings.
This session blends fire dynamics, suppression options, search priorities, and real-world decision-making to improve victim survivability and enhance firefighter safety.
