Matthew Bonneau assumed the duties as the lead command center controller and training officer for U.S. Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound in July 2023. He is a qualified Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator, Command Duty Officer and oversees the training program in the Command Center. He works as both senior leadership and as a liaison for local emergency management, developing and implementing strategies designed to save lives, while training both civilians and military members to become proficient and effective in the dynamic and ever-changing search and rescue system. Mr. Bonneau served as an active-duty enlisted member for 14 years. His military assignments included Command Duty Officer and Operations Unit Controller at Sector Long Island Sound; Operations Unit Controller, Situation Unit Controller and Communications Unit Controller at Sector St. Petersburg, FL. He has supervised or maintained command and control of over 2,000 Search and Rescue missions, involving more than 3,000 lives and close to $1B in property. Raised in North Attleboro, MA, Mr. Bonneau currently lives in Deep River, CT with his wife, Lauren, and three sons, Dylan, Grayson, and Colton.
