Dr. Pettini is a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician who started his career in CT EMS 40 years ago as a volunteer EMT, then Paramedic and RN before entering medical school and completing an emergency medicine residency in Dallas. He has been at Saint Francis Hospital, a Level 1 trauma center in Hartford, CT for 16 years and served as assistant director of the emergency department and EMS Medical co-director. Most recently involved in his sponsor hospital as part of the founding team which started the first and only EMS whole blood program in New England. His interest is optimizing prehospital hemorrhagic shock care by teaching the principles of damage control resuscitation and the new paradigm of EMS administration of blood products. He was the Primary Investigator on a four year project sponsored by the US Department of Defense to develop a highly portable blood and fluid warming technology from concept through FDA clearance now in use by military and civilian medics.
