Joe is from Uxbridge, MA and has been active in the Volunteer/On-call Fire Service for over 42 years. Nedder has been a Fire Service Instructor for over 30 years and has taught at every FDIC since 2010. Retired from active, on the line service, he continues to actively teach specializing in working with Volunteers, On-call and other smaller organizations. Joe founded Cross St Associates, in 2004 in response to requests for training. He has trained with firefighters in Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, Arkansas, and Illinois. He has written numerous articles for Fire Engineering, and is the author of the textbook
Rapid Intervention Crews, Principles and Practices published by Jones and Bartlett. Currently, he’s writing a book for PennWell entitled Managing Risk in the Volunteer Fire Service due for publication in late 2019. When you ask those who have taken one of his classes to describe his teaching style you will repeatedly hear the words knowledgeable, passionate, and fun.
