NEMSMA EMS OFFICERS

Testing Preparation Courses and Examinations

Testing candidates will be directed to the NEMSMA website to complete an application. Only candidates who fully complete the application (including verification documentation) and meet all prerequisites (delineated on the NEMSMA website), will be permitted to test. Registration for NEMSMA ends April 30th.

NEMSMA - Executive (Fellow) Prep Course

This workshop will review the 7 Pillars of EMS Officer Competency knowledge areas in a scenario-based format, addressing the executive level in each pillar. It will also include a review of the Executive Officer’s (Fellow’s) written examination and oral boards format and style, providing a review of how to interpret the questions and the critical thinking process to use in selecting and composing answers. In addition, this program reviews the third requirement of Fellow credentialing, the portfolio, describing its elements and scoring rubric.

NEMSMA - Managing Paramedic Officer (MPO) Prep Course

NEMSMA Credential Testing

June 2, 2018 – 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Executive (Fellow) Certification Pre-requisites:

  • Hold Current Unrestricted State EMS Provider or the National Registry of EMTs Licensure OR have previous unrestricted State EMS Provider Licensure or National Registry Certification for at least 5 years.
  • Have completed 120 Hours of American College of Paramedic Executives (ACPE) Qualifying Approved EMS Management Education within the last 10 years (for example, successful completion of NAEMT’s Principles of Ethics and Personal Leadership course, CFO or EFO certification, Ambulance Service Manager (ASM), SafeTech Solutions EMS Leadership Academy, etc.) Click here for a list of approved EMS Management Education.
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years’ EMS supervisory and/or management experience
  • Obtain three (3) Professional Reference Letters
  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university is highly recommended, but this requirement has been waived until 1/1/2020.

NEMSMA Membership is required to obtain the Fellow certification.

Managing Paramedic Officer Certification Pre-requisites:

  • Hold Current Unrestricted State EMS Provider or the National Registry of EMTs Licensure OR have previous unrestricted State EMS Provider Licensure or National Registry Certification for at least 5 years.
  • Have completed 20 Hours of American College of Paramedic Executives (ACPE) Qualifying Accredited EMS Management Education within the last 10 years (for example, CECs earned at EMS conferences such as EMS Today) – Waived for all 2017 Exams
  • Have completed 100 Hours of American College of Paramedic Executives (ACPE) Qualifying Approved EMS Management Education within the last 10 years (for example, successful completion of NAEMT’s Principles of Ethics and Personal Leadership course, CFO or EFO certification, Ambulance Service Manager (ASM), SafeTech Solutions EMS Leadership Academy, etc.)

  • Have a minimum of two (2) years’ EMS management experience
  • Obtain three (3) Professional Reference Letters
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly recommended, but this requirement has been waived until 1/1/2020.

NEMSMA Membership is not required to obtain Managing Paramedic Officer Certification

  • Have completed 80 Hours of American College of Paramedic Executives (ACPE) Qualifying Approved EMS Management Education within the last 10 years (for example, successful completion of NAEMT’s Principles of Ethics and Personal Leadership course, CFO or EFO certification, Ambulance Service Manager (ASM), SafeTech Solutions EMS Leadership Academy, etc.)
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years’ EMS provider experience
  • Obtain two (2) Professional Reference letters
  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly recommended, but this requirement has been waived until 1/1/2020.

NEMSMA Membership is not required to obtain Supervising Paramedic Officer Certification
