The Boston Fire Department Honor Guard, an official 501 C 3 organization, began in 1962 with 25 members. Today it is proudly represented by 45 members whom perform their duties without fiscal compensation on behalf of the nearly 1600 department employees. The Honor Guard is the formal uniformed representative of the Boston Fire Department. We average over 100 events throughout the year, ranging from retiree funerals, active member funerals and wakes, community celebrations, holiday parades, sporting events and other events that are in the best interests of the Boston Fire Department.
